Minmi PS – Mrs S. Hardy – Teacher

Our K – 6 students thoroughly enjoyed their cooking experiences with your Cook In A Box modules. The step by step instructional videos, lesson plans and recipes were easy to follow and the ingredients were varied and plentiful. The Moroccan Cous Cous and Corn Fritters were a favourite amongst our students! Our parents appreciated the take home recipe cards too. Thank you for providing an affordable service that allowed us to successfully teach hands on cooking skills in a primary school setting.

Julie Amos – Principal Wynnum West State School

We have loved using The Kitchen Kart at Wynnum West State School. We have enjoyed the portability, flexibility and ease of use.

Everything about the cart is so easy. It doesn’t take long for anyone to learn about the cart and it’s features.

The teachers are so pleased with the curriculum sheets that are supplied with the cart. Each lesson has the objectives, assessment, resources, Appendix list, important language used and then the teaching and learning activities clearly and systematically set out.

Recipes are healthy and easy to provision for a class.

Overall a fantastic resource for “hands on learning”

Michael Honeywood – Principal Kiama Public School NSW

“The Kitchen Kart has been embraced by students, staff
and our community who see it not only as an extension of learning but also as a wonderful facility to involve community. The students have cooked simple but extraordinary meals for class and events. The Cook In A Box packages that come with it, take the hassle away for busy teachers.”

Sydney Royal Easter Show 2015 – Jenny Hughes, Co-Ordinator RAS

“Joanne and Holly of Get Kids Cooking worked at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for the past 4 years.   This activation is housed in the Food Farm and just under 3000 children (6-12 year olds) participate in 20 minute sessions over the duration of the Show.

I have nothing but praise for the high level of professionalism and expertise demonstrated throughout the planning, set up/down, delivery and debrief process.

Their sessions were jam packed with information and the food the children made was simply amazing.  The menu and prep-work was at an appropriate level for the children to be able to recreate back at home, helping them to be more conscious of choosing healthy food options and helping in the kitchen.

Both Holly and Joanne were very knowledgeable and approachable and they showed children respect during every session. They also work closely with any sponsors of this activation.

Part of their brief was to order and take delivery of all produce and tasting products which was seamless and provide adequate staffing to have the activation run smoothly.  Their staff were of extremely high standard and they always had a smile on their face.

I have no hesitation in recommending them and know that they will work their magic wherever they go.”

When children are involved in hands-on learning through digging and picking, or mixing and chopping, or sitting together sharing their own freshly baked fritters, or freshly made Vietnamese rolls packed with herbs from the garden, the impact is multi-faceted.

The young students have a new connection with the land and a new understanding about what it is to nurture the soil and the seeds planted. They appreciate the concept of living sustainably, show a willingness to experiment with foods and a heightened self-confidence, readily absorb and recall related information and display a wonderful appetite for more.

I believe Get Kids Cooking in conjunction with schools growing their own produce can positively affect the wellbeing not just of children, but of the land and our communities.

Vicki Johnson, Principal at Killarney Heights Public School

Get Kids Cooking has been an exciting opportunity for our students to learn about cooking, healthy eating and sustainability. They have cooked recipes using produce grown in our own school gardens such as corn fritters and Vietnamese spring rolls.

Parents are amazed that their children are eating food they normally wouldn’t even try. You are welcomed to a cooking class with rich aromas, excited chatter, and students working cooperatively in a well organised and safe environment.

We will definitely use Get Kids Cooking  another term.
