Homemade Tortillas

Why buy them out of a packet! Make them at home then you know EXACTLY what has gone in it!

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl until well combined
  2. Using your hands crumb the margarine through the dry ingredients
  3. Add the water and mix well
  4. If too dry and crumbly add a little more water
  5. If too wet and sticky add a little more flour
  6. Split the dough into 16 pieces (you can make them as big or small as you want/your pan can hold)
  7. Roll dough out as thin as you possibly can without breaking them
  8. Heat a griddle pan and spray with a little oil
  9. Cook the tortilla on one side for about 30 seconds, when browned and as it starts to puff up flip to cook the other side
  10. Serve with your favourite fillings!

Optional Extras
1. Substitute up to 3 cups of plain white flour with whole wheat or rye flour
2. Roll up with your favorite fillings
3. These also travel well in kids lunch boxes
4. Great for Mexican foods or eating with curries or dips

6. For a great breakfast burrito cook up some eggs (try our green eggs and ham!) and roll up in the tortilla – you can also add some grilled tomatoes or mushrooms and a little of your favourite sauce!
